Trip report: Southern kingstrail, Sweden part 1

How do I describe a trip like the Southern kings trail? I have been thinking about this now for over two weeks since I’ve been back and one term keeps coming back to me “magnificent shithole”.  I know it’s not very descriptive, but it is literally the only phrase I could think of. Southern kings trail this time of the year in late September was by far one of the most challenging trails I have ever hiked. In fact I honestly can’t remember the last time I just wanted to throw in the towel and go home in the middle of a trail. However after two straight days of just hiking in freezing cold muddy marshes, losing my shoes in the mud and at time knee deep swamp, I was ready to go home.  Read More

Daily pic: The long wet road

This picture was taken outside of Fulufjället in central Sweden. I believe this was on the third day of a five day hike. Anyway, I was pretty sick and tired of how wet this trail was. I of course should have been well accustomed to the wetness by the third day but my feet hadn’t been dry for more than five minutes when I came across this lovely section of the trail. Read More

Video: The midnight visitor

This little fox and his friend visited us in the middle of the night.. He scratched the ground, came close enough to touch, pissed on my sons play toys and made off with my favourite shoes and Alexanders shorts. This guy was a little bastard, but it was quite enjoyable since I’ve never seen a fox so close.
